At any rate, wood-paneled, concealed refrigerators are beautiful, for sure. In the long run, it might be an investment that's well worth it when you consider what it does for the aesthetic of the kitchen. But, SubZero, don't get us wrong, if you want to send one of those glass-front fridges our way, we don't need the custom panels. And we'll knock out some other useless appliance (oven...) to make room for its double width!

| Mac Custom Homes Don't get us wrong, we actually like the look of a regular refrigerator. All shiny and clean and jewelry like. Or, if you're me, all covered with finger paint (or fingerprint) masterpieces. |
But there's absolutely no doubt that concealed refrigerators add that extra element of sophistication and customization to a kitchen. Some blend so beautifully with the cabinets that you can't even tell they're there!
This won't surprise you, but it was SubZero that came up with idea to conceal the actual working parts of the kitchen. Never let 'em see you sweat! Tons of fridge manufacturers offer the option now, though, at pretty much every price point.
But what if your refrigerator works just fine? What if you can't justify sending a perfectly good fridge to the Salvation Army because you want some fancy wood panels?

We did some research and there are tons of companies out there that can make custom panels to match your cabinetry! We read on HGTV that Frigo Designs is a good choice.

We also read that this is not a terribly extensive DIY project. But I was super nervous about making my son's Valentine's so I'm not sure I'd attempt creating my own fridge panels.

You know that we're all about the pretty. But our buddy Bob Vila (we don't actually know him...) says that the fridge is a dicey place for a wood panel because the panels ruin easily with moisture. That being said, we know Bob could DIY the heck out of those panels.

If we had an older fridge that needed a facelift, but we knew it wasn't practical to splurge on the wood integration, we would definitely go the chalkboard route. We think Genevieve Gail's DIY job is so cute -- it has jute handles too! We think we could pull that project off. It's somewhere in between making Valentine's and making DIY wood panels...
